About The Law Offices of Lawrence J. Marraffino, P.A.

Mr. Marraffino has over 19 years trial experience in accident cases including automobile crashes, slip and falls, products liability and commerical law cases. A former insurance company lawyer, Mr. Marraffino knows how insurance companies work and uses this experience to maximize results for his clients.

Mr. Marraffino has been designated as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar. To earn this designation, Mr. Marraffino passed a written examination, demonstrated substantial experience in civil trial law, was favorably evaluated as to ability and experience by judges and other lawyers, and exhibited outstanding character, ethics, and a reputation of professionalism to meet the requirements of the Florida Bar's Certification Committee. Fewer than six percent of all Florida lawyers are Board Certified.

Upon graduation from the University of Florida College of Law in 1984, Mr. Marraffino accepted a position with a trial firm concentrating in the defense of personal injury cases. After gaining valuable trial experience, Mr. Marraffino established his own firm in 1986.

Mr. Marraffino has extensive trial experience in personal injury and commercial law cases, both jury and non-jury, large and small. In 1989, Mr. Marraffino represented a group of parents opposed to sending their children to an elementary school near high voltage power lines. Scientific studies has linked exposure to the magnetic field from the power lines to increased risk of childhood cancer, particularly leukemia.

After a seven day trial, the Court ruled that magnetic fields from power lines did increase the risk of cancer, the first such ruling in any court in Florida. As a result, the court closed half the school grounds to outdoor activities. This precedent setting case received national medical attention in TIME, U.S. NEWS, Associated Press and other national publications.

The office offers free initial consultations on all personal injury and bankruptcy cases. In personal injury cases, there are no legal fees or costs if we are not successful. All fees are fully explained during the initial consultation. Our goal is to provide quality representation with compassion and respect and to keep our clients fully informed throughout their cases.
